Todmorden, Beck Hunters and Hornweb Nov 22nd

Beck Hunters (Mick Beck - tenor sax and bassoon, Anton Hunter - guitar, Johnny Hunter - drums)

are a refreshing mix of generations and styles, partnering Beck's experience and power with the Hunter brothers, rising young stars who have emerged from Manchester's exciting experimental music scene. They easily span free music and free jazz, even making incursions into the wild west and middle European fantasies.

"…truly mind-blowing, ranging between a cardiac arrest, epileptic fit and a nervous breakdown. The trio are extremely tight, threatening to unravel before skilfully coming back into sync. There is some jaw-dropping guitar work and Mick is a maestro on the saxophone, the music oscillating between anger and desolation." - Rob Aldam, Now Then Magazine

Hornweb is an all-saxophone collective organised by Martin Archer, featuring a floating line up of up to 12 players, all experienced improvisors from across the North and Midlands. They play improvisations and graphic or instruction-based scores, to create weaving textures, exciting improvisations, extreme dynamics!

The players are Martin Archer, Mick Beck, Geoff Bright, Bruce Coates, Karl D'Silva, Alicia Gardener-Trejo, Mark Hanslip, Keith Jafrate, Faye MacCalman, Helen Papaioannou, Hervé Perez & Simon Prince.

This is the final gig in the first season organised by The Circuit, which is a rolling residency around four towns organised by musicians based in Todmorden, Leeds, Sheffield & Derby.
