Blank Canvas presents Linea4 & MIO Octet

The Merseyside Improvisers Orchestra (MIO) was formed in January 2016 by Ged Barry with the aim of providing a focal point and monthly meeting place for Merseyside’s adventurous, creative, musicians.

The orchestra play conducted improvisations and play free. They also play compositions from its members and other composers. Since forming the orchestra has collaborated with many amazing Improvisers and composers such as, Philip Jeck, Trevor Watts, Veryan Weston, Maggie Nicols. 2018 will see the orchestra collaborating with Steve Beresford, and composer and one of the founders of The Scratch Orchestra, Howard Skempton.

A special Octet edition of will perform Phil Morton’s `System 50:50`at  tonight's concert

Linea 4 explores the possibilities of its unusual double-sax-guitar quartet ineup, one capable of myriad soundworlds, from intense linear explorations to expansive, abstract textures.
