KÉSIA DECOTÉ Rodrigues, piano. toy piano
Dr. Késia Decoté Rodrigues is a Brazilian pianist and toy pianist with a career focusing in contemporary music and in exploring innovative ways to present music to her audiences. She holds a PhD in Contemporary Arts and Music from Oxford Brookes University (CNPq - Brasil Scholarship). Késia is interested incorporating concepts from theatre, dance and visual arts in her piano performances. A keen improviser, Késia is a member of Oxford Improvisers and has released an improvisation album with cellist Bruno Guastalla.
Késia Decoté has been dedicated pieces for piano and for toy piano, working in collaboration with composers in the UK, Brazil, and Canadá. Késia’s debut solo album, with works for piano and toy piano dedicated to her, has been released last month with Nonclassical. A new solo album with piano miniatures written by composer Charlotte Botterill during the first lockdown this year will be released on the 18th December 2020, as the launch album of the label Lis de la Mer.
