Avant Garden is an evening of music performance with guest artists supported by original music from our very own University of Central Lancashire students from the BA (Hons) Music course.

Headlining is jazz-fusion guitar legend and ex-Isotope band leader Gary Boyle. A central figure in the British jazz-rock scene, Gary played with Trinity, Doggerell Bank and East Wind before forming Isotope. Following a successful run with the band, Boyle began a solo career and has released a number of highly regarded albums. We are very proud to welcome Gary to Preston for a performance at Preston Jam.

Supporting Gary Boyle is Cold Bath Street, a raging five piece that builds mind-blowing music from small phrases, moving effortlessly between genres: not to be missed!

Preston Jam is a brand new music festival curated by the University of Central Lancashire in partnership with the Ribble Valley Jazz Festival. The festival will be delving into jazz, exploring all its diverse forms from rap to hip-hop to electronica. Whether you are part of a band or just passionate about music, come along and experience the feeling of freedom music can create by exploring the different styles and genres that the 21st century has to offer.

The festival will run from Saturday 25 March to Saturday 1 April, with a variety of musical and academic events including community events, seminars and gigs with an opportunity to get involved in the local music scene.

This event is free to attend all welcome. Please book using Eventbrite. For more information, please contact Rosie Lulat on 01772 894106 or visit: http://www.uclan.ac.uk/prestonjam
