Failure lab: performance making workshop

Body-based and multi-disciplinary approach,

FAILURE Lab draws from: contact improvisation, dance, clowning, comedy improvisation, devising and choreography, visual composition, costume, voice and text work, continuous writing. And an eclectic mix of philosophical thought from cultural, queer and feminist theory.

Explore a variety of composition, devising, task-based and choreographic strategies. Meet new collaborators from different backgrounds eg: dance and theatre makers, visual artists, clowns, or musicians.

This is an exploratory and experimental workshop open to curious people and practitioners from all backgrounds. The physical work is equally accessible for trained dancers and everybody.

Why is it called ‘FAILURE Lab’?

Practice getting lost as a tactic, disarming habits and judgments, playing with mystery, overwhelm, underwhelm, excess. Create from the radical possibilities within the present. Find moments where virtuosity meets clumsiness, commitment makes perfect imperfection, embarrassment transforms itself into hilarity.

Push your personal practice, learn new skills, meet people and get inspired!
Or it could all go t**s up! No guarantees.
