Liverpool Sonic Peace invites you to, discover Deep Listening 12.09.2025

Written by

Welcome to a session of sonic exploration at Liverpool's Central Library!

Introduction

Fri, 12 Sep 2025 11:00 - 13:30 BST

Join Liverpool based artist and 'eartified' Deep Listening Workshop Facilitator Clare Brumby, for a unique experience where you can (re)discover your inner child and connect with others, through the playful practice of Deep Listening.

In this free introductory event, you'll discover the practice of Deep Listening as, developed by American musician and composer Pauline Oliveros (1932-2016), which explores the conscious nature of listening.

We'll create community in a group listening circle through a selection of sounding, listening, movement and dreaming meditations, improvisations and scores, exploring and playing with attention, awareness and presence in the listening process.

Don't miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in this (super) sonic listening session, to connect with others through sound, play and meditation, and tune in to the collective power of listening, as we make Central Library's 'Discover' area our sonic playground for a few hours!

This is an 18+ event and is perfect for anyone curious about and open to new ways of listening and using sound, movement and dreaming to build community and cultivate creativity.

Discover Deep Listening will take place in the circular, acoustically rich and accessible Discover Library, on the ground floor of Liverpool's Central Library, and is open to all ages and abilities. No previous experience or knowledge of Deep Listening is required.

Please wear loose, lightweight clothing and bring water, a blanket/cushion/yoga mat (if required), a journal/notepad, pen and an open mind!

This event is supported by Liverpool City Council and The Center For Deep Listening – at Rensselaer (NY)

Due to the limited places for this session, booking via Eventbrite is highly recommended.

Listening forward to sharing this amazing practice with you!
