Sheffield's groundbreaking antichoir Dec 15

We've been invited back to Bishops House for a second performance of this wonderful piece!

Sheffield's groundbreaking antichoir, Juxtavoices, have created a new piece written specifically for Bishops' House, which is a half-timbered house in the Norton Lees district of the City of Sheffield, England. It was built c. 1500 and is located on the southern tip of Meersbrook Park. It is one of the three surviving timber-framed houses in the city. For this composition, Juxtavoices will be using the actual fabric of the building and its mysterious sounds and spaces in order to create an unforgettable sonic experience for the audience - we can't tell you exactly what we're going to do, that would spoil it!

We will be previewing the piece in a brief performance at 3pm, while the house is still open to the public, and then again at 4pm with some extra material.

Admission free.

Free Improvisation Workshop for Women : London Nov 18th

Break musical boundaries at an improvisation workshop for those who identify as women, led by saxophonist and composer Caroline Kraabel.

Kraabel brings her punk ideals to music as something anyone can do. Join her to explore music where you can, with application and inspiration, do anything: improvisation.

This workshop aimed specifically at those who identify as women. We use an inclusive definition of ‘women’ and ‘female’, welcoming participants who may identify as non-binary, cis-gendered, or trans.

Kraabel is committed to improvisation as a way of living and working; she also makes composed music that includes improvisation.

She has been a leading member and conductor of the London Improvisers Orchestra since 1998, and has worked with artists including Anri Sala, Maggie Nicols, Andrea Zarza Canova, Evan Parker, Annie Lewandowski, John Tchicai, Cleveland Watkiss and Susan Alcorn.
