Mark Hanslip - saxophones
Olie Brice - double bass;
Johnny Hunter - drums
Brice/Hanslip/Hunter is the first meeting of three prolific young jazz musicians. Olie Brice is making a name for himself as a leading improvising bassist as well as bandleader and composer internationally; Johnny Hunter is one of the most in-demand jazz drummers of his generation; Mark Hanslip, the eldest of the three, continues to plough his creative furrow on the tenor saxophone.
Tenor saxophonist Mark Hanslip emerged in the mid-2000s as a key player on the London jazz scene, gigging nationally and internationally with groups including Outhouse, Nostalgia 77, Jonathan Bratoeff Quartet and Twelves, and has appeared on over 30 recordings on labels including Babel, F-iRE, Tru Thoughts, FMR and Tombed Visions. Now based in Manchester, he currently plays in drummer/composer Johnny Hunter's Quartet and strings project Pale Blue Dot, with pianist/organist Adam Fairhall and drummer Paul Hession, and will be touring in autumn with his improvising group HTrio plus guest US trumpeter Nate Wooley.

Olie Brice is a double bassist, improviser, and composer. He leads the Olie Brice Quintet, described by Richard Williams as “one of the most interesting and satisfying bands on the current UK scene”. The Olie Brice Quintet has released two albums, ‘Immune to Clockwork’ in 2014 and ‘Day After Day’ in 2017. He also leads an improvising trio, the Somersaults Trio, featuring Tobias Delius and Mark Sanders. Brice is also in demand as a collaborator and band-member. He has appeared with musicians including Paul Dunmall, Evan Parker, Tony Malaby, Ingrid Laubrock and Ken Vandermark, among many others.
Johnny Hunter is a Northern UK-based drummer and composer whose interest is in pan-idiomatic improvisation, finding inspiration and influence from many diverse and contrasting styles of music. He has become one of the most sought-after percussionists of his generation, performing with dozens of groups from across the UK. Hunter leads his own bands and is often heard on BBC Radio and featured in well-respected print media such as Jazzwise and The Wire.
