17 Love Lane, to be found under a railway arch in Liverpool’s historic Love Lane, where the wealth of the Tate empire was once cultivated by the workers at the Tate & Lyle sugar refinery, is an experimental place that combines food, drink and all kinds of art forms in new and unexpected ways.

Less of a formal venue, it is more of a ‘live’ project space curated by artist and architect Annabel Little, whose work crosses over and questions the boundaries between art, design and architecture and merges domesticity with public performance.

It has been the setting for a number of pop-up restaurants, avant-garde musical events, film screenings and earlier this year a makeshift hospital for the acclaimed sound installation, Reassembled, Slightly Askew.

It is also a social space, opening its doors on most Friday nights for people of all walks of life to come and enjoy a glass of wine and some Italian home-cooking. This model of conviviality is inspired by twenty years of living in Italy, initially in Milan and then in a rural part of Emilia Romagna, the land famous for Formaggio, Fellini and Ferraris. Wines are specially imported direct from small, independent vineyards i n Italy and also sold through an online shop, www.lovelanewines.com , that delivers free in Merseyside.

The programme at 17 Love Lane is varied, sometimes planned in advance, sometimes last minute. Keep in touch via Twitter, Facebook and our website, as well as by signing up for our mailing list.
