All members of the ensemble have clocks.
System 50:50 may disrupt the linear or temporal development of pieces: this is not an absolute judgement (or opinion) but relative.
System 50:50 may disrupt the flocking towards feel good outcomes.
System 50:50 may disrupt the flocking towards known habitual `free improv` sound design and group relations.
Speculation: Not only may the above be true, the ensemble members: possibly all the members, `will work this out`
All members of the ensembles at all times, will be aware that at any moment all and any member of the ensemble will stop playing if they follow system 50:50. The same profile is true, for `free improv` untouched by system 50:50, however within system 50:50; improvisers will be obliged to stop (tacet mode) the statistical odds are changed. PM notes this is very messy, I need help.
