Just Google it campaign rough & random notes

Just Google it campaign

search Uique Search Reference Topic872
Nicknames: Justgooglemerseyside, justgoogleit
wildcard: *T872

concept: We point or direct the public to the `regional start page` at the Improvisers networks website once at the regional start page the visitor can view all the different threads of activities, organisations in that region eg Merseyside or Wales. This is the proposal and is an alternative to promoting our own singular events ¬ Blank Canvas concert ` for example.

This google search method drops the inclusion of specific website addresses, email addresses etc, the Google ranking system will adjust to change, therefore our flyers are not time bound.

Variations to be aware of citation to follow.

The images below are subject to review and change, but be aware that the strength of the website is that comes up number one if certain search criteria are put in.

examples
  1. Improvisers networks Merseyside
  2. Improvisers networks centrifuge
  3. Improvisers networks sonic gaze
This image needs improvement, reason: it could look like a google advert, not a network advert.

You start this two stages down the rosd for me.
Are you saying we need a postcard with a single google search term which will open out into the improvisers network?
So a physical printed flyer that we ask people to use to connect to on the internet?
When did you think these might be made by?

Just google it

Robin Hartwell suggested text, to go on the card

Sound and music improvisation
For concerts, workshops, ensembles, soundwalks
For participants, audiences, players, promoters
For links and conversations and more

Just google it 'improviserst networks [wales]

The word in the square bracket can be changed to match the offer or target.

PM notes, limited to music : try
Sound, music, dance improvisation
For concerts, workshops, ensembles, soundwalks
For participants, audiences, players, promoters
For links and conversations and more

Just google it - update and summary by PM
  1. This flyer in the first instance to be used at a personal level:
  2. Size, v. small business card, up to `postcard` size`
  3. We hand the card to individuals: it backs up a `personal conversation of shared interest`, it is something the individual takes away with them.
  4. It is a very simple message and bypasses the need for URL addresses, which may become very complex URL addresses
  5. An example - Just google it ` improvisers networks merseyside`
  6. DOWNSIDE: the google search result, and rankings, are not under our control, so the result on average will be very helpful: but sometimes not helpful: this is a statistical gamble: PM POV is that this is a better `bet` than plan B
  7. Phase one - this is a personal marketing tool, PM suggests it may not work on a noticeboard unless adapted and changed, reason: from a distance it may look like an advert for google?
  8. end
  • proposed actions list
  • Give a summary of the design and concept to a professional designer
  • Give examples of the design and concept to a professional designer
  • professional designers cost £25 per hour
  • Sizes - 1 - business card size - may not have the extended multiple lines of text, just the search option
  • Size - number 2, to be discussed, `postcard size` or A4 divided by 4 or divided by 6 or 8? what size?
  • Outcomes wanted > a tidy neat presentation > fonts & use of colour > and a digital file in a software format that can be used and updated by non-professionals, so we can change the search `tag`: from Wales to Merseyside etc software examples would be, gimp, photoshop elements.
  • Timeline asap

I think the answer is yes: the card has a term on it - Improvisers networks Merseyside - when entered into the google search box, the result is very helpful and useful.

2

Yes - it is like a business card approach, meet > chat > hand over the card

Video review

Source - TV034 Just google it marketing campaign, uploaded to YouTube

Notes to follow
  • To add to the narrative: the shared portal with a wide range of activities and content has more to offer the casual or dedicated follower of the genre: or non-follower of the genre: therefore, whilst web pages and sites may be considered a legacy or dead concept and now replaced by Facebook and in-the-moment social media channels, the quantitative and qualitative reach of the shared portal - known as a start page - is the best option in this new and ever-changing world of the internet. The best option for; increased hits and visitors when contrasted with singular stand-alone web pages, for example, a blank canvas article within the portal may attract more hits than a blank canvas article in a stand-alone `blank canvas` website.
  • Myth busting: the portal or start page proposal need not do away with singular project-specific sites.
  • Myth busting: the portal or start page proposal can work in tandem with social media sites and channels. ( more citation on this is required.)
  • use the `share, exchange and collaborate` hook line. Stated clearly.

Facebook campaign, to be used alongside the `just google it` campaign

This is a basic design, that can be simply changed : eg replace wales with Merseyside

Robin Hartwell response 7th September 2018

1. Just Google It good title and agree might produce more hits and interest than web address.
Web address good as hyperlink or cut and paste but not good for printed format.

2. Agree that public need to see a list of threads of activities rather than only specific events or threads.
Not sure that this needs to be sorted by say, geographical location, in advance of first Google contact. I suspect that it might be better to let the visitor make the choice as to geographical location they are interested in. Some might be prepared to travel and others not – and someone in Warrington might not know if Liverpool or Manchester is easier. I am in favour of a general portal.

I would suspect that the start page is least liable to vary and so will maintain a long shelf life as a search hit.
This requires the main page to be attractive and clear as a set of ‘chapter headings’ which lead through to activities.
The precise layout of the current start page ought to be reconsidered. I think that some big and rich areas are given too small a sign post. (I really dislike the black bar and the headings! Looks like this is to do with boring admin things, but this not always true.)

I suspect easier not to have a series of cards one for each thread, but one card and the user finds the threads on the start web page. (I suspect there might be some cross-over of interest. Ideally there would be.) Discuss… not 100% sure on this. Easier to have just one card? If not, how many cards?

3. Suggest re-wording

Music, dance, sound, improvisation
For concerts, workshops, ensembles, soundwalks
For participants, players, audiences, promoters
For links, conversations and more

4. On point 7: The size and order of the wording will signal if it is about improvisers networks or Google is the main thing advertised, I guess.

JUST GOOGLE IT!

“Improvisers networks”

Music, dance, sound, improvisation
For concerts, workshops, ensembles, soundwalks
For participants, players, audiences, promoters
For links, conversations and more
Share, exchange, collaborate

Or:

“Improvisers Networks”

JUST GOOGLE IT!

Music, dance, sound, improvisation
For concerts, workshops, ensembles, soundwalks
For participants, players, audiences, promoters
For links, conversations and more
Share, exchange, collaborate

I resent paying a designer. But have no other immediate practical solution. Get a tutor in an Art department to ask a student., maybe.
Yes, needs to be in a format that an amateur (me/you) can modify, should one decide to get more or less specific as the to thing referred to on a card.

I think needs to small enough to go into a wallet so postcard too big. Slightly big business card would be good.

5. Yes, Facebook is still a general communication platform despite being old hat. The proposed card looks about right (though needs some different punctuation). Facebook layout is a jumble and I think this might be Facebook’s fault.

Writes Robin Hartwell

PM comments
The first two words in the google box are `improvisers networks`

What follows next?
For best results, the next words should match a catagory in the website structure, which is based on a database, so the next words should match a category in the database. This will generate results in the google search and ranking results that have a greater integrity or logic with the target words

For weaker results, put any words in: This will generate results in the google search and ranking that have a lesser integrity or logic with the target words.

Summary: the words in the google search should match categories in the website, not the readers reading preferences. PM speculates the google search engines pick up the categories, that is why they come top in the google rankings.

Sizes: Just google it

PM suggests two sizes are required, and work slightly differently.
  1. Business card: agreed: this version may omit the short paragraph of topics, due to space limitation, this is especially useful when we meet individuals in random locations, eg on the bus, socially, not at an `event`, in the work place, etc.
  2. Second size, is postcard size or smaller, but larger than a business card: this size can be left on display at an event, at appropriate locations e.g. LIC studio, and also given out at `events`.
